BBC News - Maternal deaths 'fall worldwide'

Maternal death rates are falling all over the world (yeah!), except that in the US the rate is rising. This may be due to a change in the records are made, but is still alarming. 1990- 12 maternal deaths out of every 100,000 live births, 2008- 17 per 100,000.
